Ancient Asia is the official continuous publication journal of the Society of South Asian Archaeology (SOSAA). The scope of the Ancient Asia is vast - from the Stone Age to modern times, including archaeology, history, anthropology, art, architecture, numismatics, iconography, ethnography and also various scientific aspects including archaeobotany and archaeozoology, including theoretical and methodological issues.

Registration and Submissions

We are delighted to announce that Ancient Asia Journal has now partnered with Academic Research Foundations (ARF India), which is one of the well-known publication and distribution houses located in the capital of India, Delhi for an end-to-end journal production. Our journal is open for submissions now!!

Electronic Submissions should be sent in word file with PDF directly to the Editor in Chief: ancient.asiajournal@gmail.com. Each submission should contain both blinded and unblended versions of the manuscript.

Ancient Asia Publishes all its papers in full open access, meaning unlimited use and reuse of articles, in addition to giving credit to authors, in addition to giving credit to authors.

The article processing charges of the Ancient Asia is Rs. 5000-00. Authors pay one-time article processing charges to cover the cost of peer review administration and management and professional production of articles in PDF and other formats.

Call for Papers

Ancient Asia, the official publication of the Society of South Asian Archaeology (SOSAA), is now accepting submissions for publication in 2023. We primarily publish research papers but also welcome book reviews and short reports.

Ancient Asia is a fully peer-reviewed, open access journal.The journal publishes as soon as articles are ready. There is no delay in research being released. The Journal is indexed by the following services: Scopus, Web of Science (Emerging Sources Citation Index), CrossRef, JISC KB+, SHERPA RoMEO, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), EBSCOHost, and Google Scholar. In addition, all journals are available for harvesting via OAI-PMH. This journal is also indexed by European Reference Index for Humanities and Social Sciences (ERIH PLUS).

The scope of Ancient Asia is vast - from Stone Age to the Modern times, including archaeology, history, anthropology, art, architecture, numismatics, iconography, ethnography, various scientific aspects including archaeobotany and archaeozoology, and theoretical and methodological issues. Amongst its goals are to bring forth the research being conducted in areas that are not often well published such as the North Eastern States of India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Central Asia, Iran, etc. Topics that are encouraged for submission are (but not exclusively):
